Srinagar 13 September (KNB): A precocious child from the early period of his life catapulting to a grand stature in the consequent years of his journey after formative stage of schooling and college, with excelling in innumerous fields, a day of September 11, 2021, baffled the people of J&K after hearing upon the loss of a multifaceted personality — Dr. Aziz Hajini.

Dr. Abdul Aziz Parray made people marvel at his work under his pen name — Aziz Hajini. He was born in North Kashmir Bandipora’s Hajin Sonawari on 07-03-1957. Hajini completed his higher secondary schooling from Hajin and attended Govt Degree College, Bemina, which he completed with flying colours. However, the years of his higher studies were not a lacklustre but a glorious one as he majored from the University of Kashmir in Kashmiri that too by securing a Gold Medal.

Hajini had also completed his Ph.D in Kashmiri and was a well-known writer. He arose from a humble background and became a household name in Kashmir with his sheer commitment to hard work. He wrote several books, some of which includes: Pantchahan Variyan Hund Kashur Adab, Paer Zaan, Kaashire Naat, Noor-e-Nooran, Vitasta Ki Saer, Kashur Aqeedati Adab Punjabie Shayiri, Ze Gaz Zameen et cetera.

He had his contribution in almost every revered field: poetry, writing, theatre, broadcasting, education et al. After being appointed as a lecturer, Hajini left his presence at the Dept. of School Education, in the University of Kashmir as Coordinator of Sheikh-ul-Aalam, Secretary of JK Academy of Art Culture and Languages, President of Kashmir’s literary body —  Adbee Markaz Kamraz.

While being at the helm of the different departments, the concerned areas saw prosperity and progressed by leaps and bounds with his discerning outlook.

When it comes to Kashmiri language, it was propped up by the work of Hajini, regarding which Reyaz ul Hassan, an author, in the book Aziz Hajini The Man and The Mission, said that “It was with the efforts of Dr. Hajini that Kashmiri was formally reintroduced as a subject by the Department of School Education in order to promote Kashmiri culture, language and literature. His struggle in this regard is not only fructifying and praiseworthy but deserves to be written in golden words in the history of Kashmiri culture and tradition.”

Being a part of Journalism, Hajini was a newscaster for different mediums for a few years and anchored several well-known programmes.

In the eyes of the general public and others from higher strata of society, Dr. Aziz Hajini has always been venerated by them. Also, the affinity towards the Kashmiri language did not make Hajini foreign to his multitude, unlike other writers.

After remaining ill for some time, Hajini’s death left a pall of gloom over the people, especially those who had rubbed their shoulders with the eminent writer or knew him through his profession.

However, the demise of Hajini was condoled by people irrespective of religion, politics and caste.

“Dr Aziz Hajini’s demise has left a big void in the literary circles of J&K. Hajini Sb, a noted writer & former Secretary Cultural Academy was also the author of numerous acclaimed books. His absence in the Art & culture circuit will be deeply felt. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” tweeted J&K PDP.

“Dr. Farooq, Omar Abdullah condoled the demise of noted poet and writer Dr. Aziz Hajni. Sagar, Rather, others also express sympathies with the bereaved family, pray for peace to the departed soul,” tweeted JKNC.  (KNB)
