DC B’la inspects various Red Zones, holds meeting

BARAMULLA, JUNE 01(KNB): Continuing its efforts towards the containment of COVID-19 spread, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo, accompanied by SSP Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom and other concerned officers, today, inspected various recently declared red zones viz Khawjabagh, Khanpora, Gauntmulla and other zones where he took review of the implementation of various COVID-19 related advisories especially observing lockdown and maintaining social distancing.
On the occasion, DC took a detailed appraisal of various anti-corana activities undertaken to control the spread of the virus. He directed the concerned agencies to ensure strict implementation of all COVID-19 related advisories in letter and spirit. He also stressed to accelerate action for combating the spread of the infection besides appealed the people to cooperate with the administration.
DC also inspected various control rooms, established in such zones where he took a brief review of their functioning. He was informed that all the essential commodities are being supplied to the people residing in these areas through a proper mechanism formulated by such control rooms keeping in consideration the necessary advisories.
Dr Itoo also inspected several locations of main market Baramulla to review the implementation of lockdown and other necessary advisories. He urged the people to maintain social distancing and use face masks so that the risk of infection is mitigated.
Earlier, the DC chaired a meeting of concerned officers at Dak Bungalow and reviewed the pace and position of various ongoing developmental projects undertaken by different departments. The meeting aimed to devise an action plan so that work on the developmental projects is not affected due to present circumstances that emerged due to COVID-19 pandemic.
On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on the subject was held wherein DC emphasized for putting in place a viable mechanism in this regard. He also directed to ramp up the pace of work on some undergoing projects so that they are completed within stipulated timeframe. He also directed to check the illegal extraction of various earth minerals including sand, gravel etc and act strictly against such elements indulging in such illegal practices.(KNB)
