Covid-19 claims youngest vicitim in J&K, death toll at 61

Srinagar, June 15, (KNB): Jammu and Kashmir recorded the death of its youngest male patient, an 18-year-old from Handwara area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday.

As per the reports, the teenager was admitted to the hospital as a medico-legal case with a serious head injury today died at 3 a.m at SMHS hospital here.

The deceased, besides testing positive for the virus was suffering from serious head injuries and bilateral pneumonia.

The teenager is the youngest among the 61 persons who have succumbed to the virus in Jammu and Kashmir so far.

Earlier, a 27-year-old resident from Lolab area of the same district who succumbed to the pathogen 13 days ago at the very hospital was the youngest till his death. With this, the total fatality count of Kupwara due to the virus rose to five.

As of now, a total of 61 people have succumbed to the virus in J&K, seven from Jammu and 54 from Valley.(KNB)
