District Administration initiates Mass production of face-masks
GANDERBAL, APRIL 11: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, today convened a meeting of nominated administrators, Nodal Officers and In-Charge, District Control Room for COVID-19 to assess the arrangements in place for containment of the Covid-19.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACR, Tehsildars, ARTO, Executive Engineer, PMGSY, DFO, Sindh Forest Division, JD Employment, General Manager DIC and other concerned were present in the meeting.
During the meeting threadbare discussions were held on various measures taken by the District Administration for the containment of the COVID-19 virus.
The Administrators and Nodal officers briefed the DC about the arrangements in place and about the tasks assigned to them. The DC also sought their feedback for better service deliveries to the common masses in the district during the lockdown.
The meeting also reviewed the mass production of face-masks in the district to contain the spread of COVID-19. The ACR, who has been assigned the task, informed that various local entrepreneurs and self-help groups (SHGs) of NRLM have been roped in and the raw material is being provided to them for the production of the same.
The DC directed him to get the masks produced as per the set-guidelines and ensure the rapid production, distribution and outreach of masks to achieve the goal of universal mask usage in the district.
To avert any eventuality due to COVID-19 in the district, the DC urged cooperation among all constituted teams and stressed real time information sharing with COVID-19 District Control Room.
The meeting also discussed the functioning of District Control Room for COVID-19. The in-charge briefed the DC about the nature of calls received and course of action taken on daily basis. The he urged him to share caller information with the concerned administrator so that appropriate action is taken in real time.
On the occasion, the DC said that assessment of availability of essentials in the district and home delivery of ration and LPG be carried out on regular basis, so that people do not face any inconvenience. Besides, the sanitization, fumigation of all the congested residential areas including lanes and bye lanes is being carried out regularly and facilities and other logistics in various quarantine centers established by the district administration are also being monitored regularly, he added.
Pertinently, the District Administration is regularly carrying a door to door information dissemination campaign with regard to the disease. Besides, counseling general public for observing social distancing, importance of wearing mask to contain the deadly virus and other preventative measures that need to be taken, by using loud speakers mounted on vehicles.
