COVID-19: Amid lockdown district admin continues delivery of essentials in Anantnag

ANANTNAG, APRIL 26: Amid lockdown due to COVID–19 pandemic, district administration Anantnag has taken various measures to continue delivery of essential commodities like medicine, ration, LPG, safe drinking water, power, healthcare and other facilities to general public on regular basis.
District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Anantnag which met recently under the chairmanship of Bashir Ahmad Dar accorded post facto sanction of Rs.19.65 lakh for purchase of equipment required for establishing quarantine centres. The committee took the decisions for purchase of masks, PPE, sanitizers and allied equipment for GMC Anantnag, Emergency Hospital Qazigund and 10 Municipalities of the district.
Besides Rs 10 lakh were released in favour of Principal GMC Anantnag, Rs.25000 in favour of Medical Superintendent, Emergency Hospital Qazigund for purchase of medicines, masks, sanitizers, PPE and allied equipment. Also an amount of Rs.9.40 lakh was released in 10 Municipalities for sanitization/ fumigation purposes and allied activities.
The committee also approved the arrangements for distribution of free ration to be made by AD FSC&CA for migrant labourers, free food and other essential items for contacts of COVID–19 positive patients/ suspects and staff in quarantine centres.
It also approved installation charges and running cost of 63KVA Gen-set at trauma centre Bijbehara, purchase of 500 steel beds from SICOP and 160 cots from local market and 630 beddings for administrative/ hospital quarantine centres and hospitals and also issued orders for purchase of reusable PPE kits and sanitizers for frontline workers and others in the health department.
Beneficiaries including elderly people, aged widows, specially-abled persons and other deserving across the district are getting their pensions and other financial assistance regularly under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS). A monthly pension of Rs 1000 is being transferred to the accountDf old age people through DBT without any delay.
Likewise, all the beneficiaries under various social welfare schemes are getting their monthly financial assistance regularly.
With the onset of Agriculture and Horticulture season in Kashmir, Irrigation Division Anantnag has started desilting of various canals across the district, while strictly adhering to SOPs with regard to COVID–19, to provide adequate irrigation supply to the farmers during the entire season, and also generating man days for the local populace during the lockdown.
Executive Engineer Irrigation Division Anantnag Tariq Ahmad Dar said that 100 Km canal length is being desilted and the desilting of canals will be completed in the first week of May 2020.
District Magistrate Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Dar also launched a drive for distribution of free ration to the outside labour class presently putting up in Anantnag district in sync with the government directions and provisions of Disaster Management Act.
More than 2300 labourers from different states are putting up in the district who had come for earning livelihood here ahead of summer season.
The district administration is providing ration to the registered consumers at their doorsteps as per protocol to avoid public gatherings and observing social distancing during collection and distribution of the essentials.
Polytechnic College Anantnag and Eqlavya Residential Model School Salia were recently augmented as wellness centres in addition to already functioning quarantine centres at Pahalgam, Kokernag, Bijbehara and Anantnag.
All the basic amenities are being provided to the inhabitants of the red zones and Buffer zones of the district, besides no inward and outward movement is allowed in such zones.(KNB)
