Covid-19 1762 migrant workers being provided free food daily, sample collection centre established in District: DC Budgam

“5 lungars, relief camps opened at various locations”
BUDGAM, APRIL 09: Deputy Commissioner (DC), Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganai, today said that 1762 migrant workers are being provided free food on daily basis at different places in Budgam.
DC said this during a visit to various quarantine facilities, set up in the district to take on spot stock of the arrangements there. He directed the concerned to ensure fool-proof arrangements and hassle-free services to the quarantined persons.
On the occasion, it was informed that 1762 non- local laborers are being provided free food including breakfast, lunch and dinner in the district and 1300 have been provided free accommodation at various places including Magam, Chadoora, Beerwah and Khag with proper bedding, sanitary items, masks and other items.
It was also given out that the District Administration has established 5 langers to ensure supply of cooked food to these workers, besides, various relief camps have also been opened to deliver food kits, ration to local, non- local laborers and other needy families putting up at rented accommodations with their families, among whom food kits comprising of rice, spices, pulses, salt, milk powder and edible oil have been distributed so far.
The DC maintained that designated officers are monitoring the situation on daily basis to ensure that there is no shortage of food items or any other essential commodities.
Regarding quarantine facility, the DC said that 1645 bed capacity both hospital as well non-hospital has been established at 41 different locations across the Budgam.
Moreover, the DC informed that a well equipped testing collection centre has been established at JNV, Budgam where sample collection is being carried out daily to ensure fast tracking of suspected Covid-19 cases.
