Senior journalist among many who tested positive for pandemic at CD lab, test negative at SKIMS, Soura, People have brought the issue into my notice, will see what’s wrong: Advisor Baseer Khan

Srinagar, June 08: In what could raise Goosebumps, many people including a senior journalist, who were tested positive for the deadly COVID pandemic at Chest Disease hospital laboratory a few days back, tested negative for the virus at SKIMS Soura. The development has raised a serious question mark on the authenticity of the tests being done at the Chest Disease hospital laboratory, which is a designated COVID hospital.

Many people from Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir including a senior journalist, who were tested positive for the virus at CD hospital laboratory, a few days ago, went to SKIMS Soura, to get themselves retested to be doubly sure whether they are COVID infectant.

To their utter surprise, all of them including the senior journalist tested negative for the virus. “Yes, I went to SKIMS the other day to be doubly sure whether I am a COVID positive. The results of my samples have come as negative,” the journalist told.

Another person, from Srinagar, who was tested positive at CD hospital laboratory, also said that his second test done at SKIMS Soura, has come as negative. “I was in an utter shock and duress when my test results at CD laboratory came as negative a day before. My family was a crying for

the whole night. I am feeling relaxed now as my test is negative. Like me there would be hundreds whose tests would be wrong,” he said and urged people to go for re-testing at SKIMS Lab or JVC laboratory.

At least two dozen people called and complained about faulty COVID tests done at CD hospital laboratory. “See our test reports, we all are negative. The CD laboratory is a faulty one. There should be an inquiry at the highest level,” he said. Pertinently, Head of the Department CD hospital and a frontline COVID warrior, Dr Naved Nazir was also tested positive for the virus recently.

LG’s Advisor Baseer Khan said that many people have brought the issue of “faulty tests at CD hospital laboratory” to his notice. “I will check and look into the issue as to what exactly is wrong.
We will find out why there are two results at two different places,” Khan said. Meanwhile, repeated attempts to reach out to Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar Principal Samia Rashid didn’t fructify.
