Advisor Baseer Khan convened review meeting on Covid -19 Asked elected Panchayat members to work in close co-ordination with other departments

 

JAMMU, APRIL 7: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, who is overall in-charge of Coronavirus Control efforts in Kashmir Division, today convened a meeting here to review the measures being initiated by various departments regarding Prevention and Control of Covid-19.

Secretary Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Shetal Nanda, Mission Director National Health Mission Dr Bupindar and other officers attended the meeting.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang K Pole, All Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir Division, Director FCS&CA Kashmir and other officer attended the meeting through video conferencing.

The meeting held threadbare discussion on various issues regarding Status of Covid- 19 patients, Quarantine and Isolation Centers, issue of outside labourers, Helpline numbers for old Age, Infirm persons, status of supply of Essential Commodities via ration, medicines and likewise, containment plan at Micro and Cluster level viz-a-viz Red Zones, integrated disease Surveillanceplan,Up gradation of infrastructure of CD hospital Srinagar, enhancement of lifting capacity of Mir bazar store Anantnag.

During the meeting the advisor directed that Block Development Council Members, Sarpanches and Panches will work in close co-ordination with heath and other departments to conduct door to door survey in their respective area to find out people who have Covid- 19 symptoms.

He also said that Red Zones already declared by the administration should be concentrated more by the filed staff.

The Advisor said that health officials must maintain a constant watch on cases and immediate reporting and shifting of those who might develop Covid-19 symptoms is of critical importance.

The Advisor asked DCs to classify their respective districts into zones and address their issues on priority basis.

He stressed the concerned departments to ensure sanitation and fumigation drive on regular bases, particularly in the Red zone area.

The Advisor said that persons who are being home quarantined for 14 days are properly monitored by the panchayat members so that there is no chance of further contamination.

He said that record of persons who are coming from outside must be maintained so that a proper surveillance is kept on them.

Baseer Khan said that it must be ensured that people must avoid any crowd and has requested people to postpone all functions like marriages etc, including religious congregations.

The Deputy Commissioners informed the advisor that there is no shortage of essential commodities in their respective districts and lockdown is being strictly imposed and testing of suspected coronavirus is being done by the doctors as per the health guidelines.

The meeting was also informed that there is no shortage of medicines triple layer masks and in valley. The advisor was also informed that food items are being provided to non locallabours also and their health related issues are being taken care off.

The meeting also discussed the facilities made available at quarantine facilities for shifting of suspected cases.

The Advisor directed all the Deputy Commissioners to provide doorstep distribution of ration and other essential commodities to the consumers so that people, especially old age and weaker sections would not suffer.

He urged people to cooperate with the administration and be well-informed about all precautions that need to be followed to prevent spread of the infection.

The meeting was informed that overall situation is under control and Health institutions are ready to combat any exigency, the concerned officials informed the meeting.

People were also asked to inform the administration in case they know any foreign traveller who has recently arrived from abroad in their neighbourhood, family, friend and social circle, in the larger interest of public. People can inform control rooms immediately and their identity and contact number will be kept secret.

The Advisor reiterated that all departments should work in convergence for creating awareness in community about the disease and the precautions to be taken.

He directed the officials to put in their best efforts to prevent the spread of the virus and asked them to intensify efforts to find anyone who might have come in contact with the suspected cases. He said that proper guidelines need to be followed while dealing with the evolving corona virus situation.

While stressing on dealing with the situation as per the recommended guidelines and operating procedures, Khan said that everyone has to play its due role in combating the deadly disease.
