JKLF launches jail bharo tehreek from Today

Srinagar, Jan 4: Launching the jail bharo tehreek by courting arrest along with the 50 activists. The movement is also aimed at protesting against alleged harassment and torture of Kashmiri prisoners in various jails in and outside the state.
According to a front statement issued here, the program will start on Friday 4th January 2013 and will continue for 10 days.
“JKLF leaders and workers will court arrest Phase wise on 4th, 7th, 9th, 11th and 14th January 2013.”, the statement reads.
JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik had announced launching of the movement on 30th January in a seminar here.
“The main purpose of Jail Bharo Tehreek is to protest against sentencing Kashmiri’s to death, life imprisonments, and subjecting them to worst kind of torture in jails. This program will also highlight the plight of kashmiri prisoners and the new judicial torture policy of rulers against kashmiri prisoners”, said the front spokesperson in the statement. The JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on Friday said that New Delhi should not force the youth to pick up guns again.
Addressing people at Maisuma before courting arrest, Malik said New Delhi should provide space for peaceful struggle. “The recent life sentences can push the youth to pick up guns again. It is time to roll back these sentences,” he said.
