Army organizes a mega free eye camp for the local populace of kashmir sponsored by gkb hi-tech lenses a privately Owned company
Army’s 150 Field Regiment organized a 3 day mega free eye camp for the populace of Kashmir which was sponsored by GKB HI-Tech LENSES, a pvt owned company raised in GOA. The event was conducted from 11th Aug 2013 to 13th Aug 2013. The under mentioned facilities were provided by the company free of cost during the entire duration of the camp:-
- Eye examination was conducted with eye testing equipment including computers & auto refractormeters.
- 400 patients were screened per day.
- Computerized screening for visual correction was carried out
- Manual screening of the patients was done
- The frames for the patient were selected as per their choice.
- 1350 spectacles frames with lenses were provided free of cost to patients.
As eye care facilities being few and nonexistent in most parts of the valley, the mega free eye camp was welcomed by the AWAM as a big step in addressing those health care issues which were rarely addressed. Free medical aid was also provided by the army alongside the eye camp for the populace. A very large turnout of people was witnessed during the 3 days of conduct.

Mr Mohd Iqbal PA to MLA URI, SDM Uri, SDPO Uri, Tehsildar Uri, ZEO Uri, BMO Uri, SHO Uri, XEN R&B Uri, Sports Officer Uri, BDO Uri and the Principals of Degree College, Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Govt Middle School and Govt Boys Higher Secondary School, Uri. Later an interaction with the DC, Baramulla, members of the civil administration, educational and health departments Uri was conducted in which project plans for the future were discussed.
