Srinagar, August 14(KNB): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday paid tribute to five J&K Police personnel who were posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, and congratulated four others who received the Shaurya Chakra for acts of exemplary bravery.
In a post on X, Mr. Sinha congratulated the J&K Police personnel who were honoured with the gallantry awards on the occasion of Independence Day 2026.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the brave personnel of the @JmuKmrPolice who have been honoured with the Kirti Chakra and Shaurya Chakra on the occasion of Independence Day-2026,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor paid tribute to Head Constable Jagbir Singh, SgCt Jaswant Singh, SgCt Balvinder Singh, SgCt Tariq Hussain and Head Constable Bashir Ahmad, who were awarded the Kirti Chakra posthumously.
“I salute the supreme sacrifice of Jagbir Singh, Head Constable; Jaswant Singh, SgCt; Balvinder Singh, SgCt; Tariq Hussain, SgCt; and Bashir Ahmad, Head Constable, who have been honoured with the Kirti Chakra posthumously,” Mr. Sinha said.
He also congratulated DySP Dheeraj Singh Katoch, DySP Sukhvir Singh, Inspector Ajay Singh Chib and Assistant Sub-Inspector Niyaz Ahmad on being conferred the Shaurya Chakra.
“I also congratulate the Shaurya Chakra awardees Dheeraj Singh Katoch, DySP; Sukhvir Singh, DySP; Ajay Singh Chib, Inspector; and Niyaz Ahmad, Assistant Sub Inspector for their exemplary bravery and unwavering commitment to the nation,” he said.
Mr. Sinha said the courage, sacrifice and dedication of the awardees were a matter of pride for Jammu and Kashmir and the country.
“Their courage, sacrifice and dedication are a matter of immense pride for UT of Jammu & Kashmir and the nation. We remain forever indebted to our bravehearts and their families,” he said.(KNB)
