JDA Halts Illegal Reconstruction at Jagti in Jammu

Jammu, Dec 21 (KNB): Illegal construction was going on unabated at Jagti in Jammu, following reports received by Kashmir News Bureau (KNB) that some individuals were carrying out illegal reconstruction despite having no permission from the competent authority. When KNB followed the matter, it was learnt that a show-cause notice had already been served to the concerned party, yet the construction work was continuing in violation of the directions.

Subsequently, the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) on Monday stopped the alleged illegal reconstruction work of the structure after it was found that the required permission had not been granted.

An official of the JDA said that a notice was served to the concerned party on Saturday, directing them to stop the construction work immediately. However, the directions were ignored and the work continued despite the notice.

“Since the construction was not authorized and the notice was not complied with, we stopped the work today and removed the shuttering at the site,” the JDA Inspector said. He added that the construction will remain halted until the owner obtains proper permission from the competent authority.

The JDA reiterated that any construction without prior approval is illegal and warned of strict action against violators to ensure planned development in the city.

When Kashmir News Bureau contacted the Vice Chairman (VC) JDA in this regard, he said, “We will look into the matter.” Shortly thereafter, the VC directed a team of the JDA to visit the site, following which the team reached the spot and stopped the construction work. (KNB)
