Srinagar, Oct 24: The Jammu and Kashmir People’s Alliance (JKPA) has welcomed the decision of the Government of India to hold the talks with all the stakeholders in Kashmir for the resolution of Kashmir issue, adding, the lingering Kashmir issue is resulting destruction of life and property in Valley from the last seven decades.
Tanveer Ahmad Dar working president of JKPA in a statement Tuesday welcomed the appointment of Dineshwar Sharma as the representative of the government to initiate dialogue in the trouble torn Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the military might and bullets are not going to solve in problem but the tangible and concrete steps for a result oriented dialogue.
The spokesman noted that Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech had said the Kashmir issue can only be solved by embracing Kashmiris and not by “gaalis” (abuses) or “golis” (bullets). “It was a welcome statement and we thought the government is rethinking its Kashmir policy,” he added.
“President JKPA hoped that this time the government of India will show the seriousness to involve all the stake holders in talks as a relief in pain, agony, dissatisfaction over the fake promises and appointments of interlocutors over the last 70 years. President JKPA warned that if this time the appointment of the mediator turns futile exercise Kashmir will be pushed back to the 1990s.
