Police records victim’s statement on court directions

Bandipora: Police on Monday recorded the statement of a minor student who was allegedly raped by two youth at Helmatpora village of Bandipora district.
A student of 5th standard was raped by two youth on July 29 when the minor girl was playing in fields.
Though police had arrested the accused persons – Javid Paswal and Saleem Paswal, but the family of the victim student alleged that the investigating officer was not recording the statement of the rape victim. “The IO has some relation with the accused so he is delaying the investigation,” they alleged.
On Monday family approached the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Bandipora with a complaint against the investigating officer who is also division officer of the Helmatpora village.
CJM Bandipora MV Manhas took strong notice of the incident and directed the IO to be present in the court on the same day.
Later IO appeared before court and recorded the statement of the rape victim under section164A.
The victim stated that the two youth caught hold of her on July 29 evening when she was playing in her field. She said the accused put cloth in her mouth so that she won’t be able to shout and then raped her.Both the accused are behind bars.
Superintendent of Police Bandipora said strict action will be taken against the culprits.
