Chandigarh:Fulfilling social responsibility and to sensitise school children of surrounding schools, Dr IT Group of Institutions, Banur, organized an Example-Setting and Awareness p Programme in which 437 students from 22 high and higher secondary schools of Punjab and Chandigarh participated enthusiastically in various extra-curricular and cultural activities. The items for competitions included dances, songs, comedy circus, essay writing, beautiful handwriting, face painting, painting, sketching, Mehandi design, rangoli, hairstyle, collage making, best out of waste, no flame cooking,, science project, etc. Besides, there was Guest appearance for singing by Mr. Chamkor Khattar, Novy Sandhu and Party which added spice to the programme.
Prof. Satish Kapur, former Dean Commerce Faculty of Panjab University was the Chief Guest. He said, “The various extra-curricular and cultural activities help to bring out the hidden talents, develop competitive spirit and help in grooming personality. The items relating to pollution and the message through essay-competition and paper-reading about ‘SWATCHH BHARAT’ have topical importance”.
CA Mohan Kamal Mahajan, Chairman of Dr IT Group, said, “Students must participate in extra-curricular activities which develop personality and inspire and aware others on subjects like discipline, patriotism, team-working, sanitation, health and hygiene and the need of the hour that is ‘Swatchh Bharat’ to improve our environment and health”.
Mrs. Rekha Mahajan, Trustee, said, “I am impressed with the event-items, especially those that promote, competence, peace, harmony, work -ethics, sanitation, and those providing entertainment ”.
Earlier, Prof. P. Parkash Arya, Managing Director of Dr IT Group of Institutes, Banur Campus, welcomed the Chief Guest, Chairman of the Group, Mrs. Rekha Mahajan (Trustee), students, faculty and other invitees and said, “Such an event is being held every year with college-students’ help; the activities provide lesson for healthy competition, team spirit, discipline and, above all, they develop creativity and innovation”.
