Dr Naveed among 20 doctors test positive for covid19 in J&K till now

Srinagar, June 02(KNB): In a major conviction of anxiety around 20 doctors including leading pulmonologist and Head of Department of Chest Disease Hospital Srinagar have tested positive for the pandemic Covid-19 across Jammu and Kashmir, which is irrevocably pathetic throwing up new challenges for health authorities.
A constant rise is being witnessed in in number of positive cases as well as deaths across J&K due to the pathogen and with doctors, health workers engaged in COVID-19 combat also becoming victim of this deadly virus it’s creating massive hue and cry across the union territory and makes things worse to handle while in a melancholy a leading pulmonologist Dr Naveed Nazir also tested positive for the virus on Tuesday morning.
Dr Naveed who had been leading the COVID-19 fight in Chest Disease Hospital, which has been designated as COVID-19 hospital tested positive for the virus as his swab samples were collected for testing yesterday afternoon after he had come in close contact of a Covid-19 patient which returned positive late in the evening.
With this all the doctors and hospital staff, who had come in contact with the doctor who tested positive for COVID-19, will be put to quarantine and tested for coronavirus in a few days later, officials revealed.
Earlier in the month of May, five doctors tested positive for the Coronavirus including three from the ENT department of Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital in Srinagar, an orthopaedic surgeon from SKIMS Bemina and a dentist from Government Dental College in Srinagar.
While talking to Kashmir News Bureau on phone Dr Nisar-ul-Haq said, ” Exact number of positive cases of doctors is not known as doctors and other paramedic staff are not randomly tested. I hope
Dr Naveed who earlier this morning tested positive for Covid-19 will recover soon, he was one among those who are in close contact with the Covid-19 patients.”
He further added, “maximum positive cases of doctors coming forth is because of the close contact to patients, no doubt precautions are taken but certainly more precautions need to be taken.”
Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 2601 Covid-19 cases so far, Of them 1999 are in Kashmir and 602 are in Jammu division with 1624 active cases, 946 recoveries, 33 deaths 27 in Kashmir and 4 in Jammu region.(KNB)
