‘WPR domicile certificate issue’:

Police ‘forcibly evicts’ Er Rashid after 27 hours of sit-in outside CM’s Gupkar residence

Srinagar, Dec 24 : Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief and MLA Langate Er Rasheed who had Friday begun his 48-hour sit-in outside the residence of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti against the domicile certificates to West Pakistan Refugees (WPR), was Saturday “forcibly evicted” by the police along with his supporters.

In a statement to KNS, AIP said Police used force to evict Er Rashid and dozens of his supporters who had been on a 48 hours Sit-in outside the residence of Chief Minister at Gupkar.
Er Rashid spent the chilly night in open sky near the banks of Dal Lake with temperature of -6 degree CC.

However, according to AIP, this morning at around 11:30 am, a heavy contingent of police forcibly evicted Er Rashid along with dozens of his supporters. “Before being evicted, protestors chanted anti-coalition and anti WP refugee slogans,” they said.

Earlier, talking to media persons before his eviction, Er Rashid warned Mehbooba Mufti of dire consequences if she continues to work like a rubber stamp to implement BJP agenda in J&K.
Er Rashid said “If government really believes that it has cleared its stand by claiming not to have issued orders to issue domicile certificate to WP refugees , but identity cards, then why should not be Divisional Commissioner Jammu taken to task for putting government’s perspective in a wrong way. Govt. must answer if Nayeem Akhtar or Div Com Jammu is speaking the reality,” he said. (KNS)
