Two TTEs held for misbehaving with MLA, wife

PATNA: Close on the heels of sexual harassment of a woman passenger in AC 1 coach of Sampoorna Kranti Express on Thursday under Danapur division of East Central Railway (ECR), an incident of indecent behaviour with a BJP MLA and his wife on the running Danapur-Howrah Express (12352) train came to light on Friday night near Patna Saheb station.
Two railway TTEs, identified as Pankaj Kumar and Ajay, were arrested by the police in this connection. An FIR was lodged with Patna Saheb GRP in this regard.
According to Patna Saheb GRP SHO, BJP MLA from Agiaon constituency in Bhojpur district Shivesh Kumar was travelling in AC 2 coach of the train along with his wife and a child. A few TTEs, who were also travelling in the same coach, misbehaved and scuffled with the MLA and his family. These TTEs were allegedly under the influence of liquor. However, the state police provided escort to MLA and his family at Khusrupur station. Later, they continued their onward journey to Howrah, he said.

When contacted, the BJP MLA said the TTEs were going to attend a training course in West Bengal. They were openly taking liquor in the coach. When the TTEs on duty Akhilesh and Jitendra were asked to stop taking liquor as well as creating nuisance in the presence of passengers, including women, they ignored it. Instead they disappeared from the coach, he said.
According to Kumar, he pulled the alarm chain at Khusrupur to stop the train when these drunken railway staff roughed him up and his wife. On arrival of lady constables and GRP personnel at Khusrupur, he could save himself, wife and child from these TTEs.
A Patna Saheb GRP official said further investigation was going on. Efforts were on to identify the other railway staff involved in the incident, he said.
