“Suspending and booking Kashmiris students exposed communal face of Indian: Waza

Urges international community to intervene for safeguarding student’s future

Srinagar, March 6, 2014: Jammu and Kashmir People’s League Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza today condemned booking of Kashmiri students by UP police after they were Suspended Meerut’s Swami Vivekanand Subharti University just for cheering Pakistan’s victory against India during a cricket match and said that the act of police and university authorities have exposed the real communal face of India.

Waza in statement said that tall claims of safety for the people of Kashmir stand exposed too as Kashmiri people are continuously being subjected to suppression inside and outside the state for which state puppet authorities are majorly responsible.

He said that suspending and now charging students with serious crimes like sedition just for celebrating any countries win in cricket exposes India’s communal and racial bias. He said that cricket is a global game and everybody is free to support a team or a cricketer which he likes. He said that maximum Indian professional crickets love players of England and Australia Team but they were charged with sedition like crimes.

Mukhtar Waza said that People’s League has ever since maintained that people of Jammu and Kashmir especially our youths are not safe anywhere in India. He expressed serious concerns over the issue of Kashmiri girls dancing in Army’s Bengal Headquarters and appealed parents to remain vigil about anti-freedom movement. He said that taking daughters on tour through so called Sadbavan is a policy to encourage vulgarity in Kashmiri society vis-a-viz to down our moral values.

Waza urged international coummnity to take a serious note of harassment and exiling of Kashmiri students from different universities so that academic future of these students may be safeguarded.

He also paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Tahir Rasool on his 1st martyrdom anniversary and expressed sympathy and solidarity with bereaved family. He also expressed sympathy and solidarity of UJC Chief Syed Sallhu-Din on the sad demise of his mother –in-law. He prayed for the deceased soul.

Meanwhile senior party leaders including Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi and Jaffer Kashmiri today visited several areas of Srinagar City and met different delegations political and social workers. During the visit party leaders discussed different issues related to Kashmir issue and human rights violations with them who assured full support in highlighting both issues viz-a-viz strengthening the party roots. Leaders accompanied by Senior APHC Leaders including Hakeem Abdul Rashid and Syed Bashir Indrabi visited JKLF chairman, Javed Ahmad Dar who has gone through eye surgery.
