Suicide attempt by IAS officer:

Come up with a detailed report in House: Dy Speaker to Govt

Srinagar, June 29 : Deputy Speaker Legislative Assembly Wednesday asked the government to submit complete report in the Legislature about the action taken against a senior IAS officer who is allegedly linked to the suicide attempt of another IAS officer.

“Come up with a complete action taken report tomorrow and submit it into the House,” Nazir Ahmad Gurezi directed Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today.

“What action are you taking? Why are you shielding the officer,” he said.

Gurezi passed the direction after ruling PDP legislator from Chadoora Assembly segment, Javaid Mustafa Mir, demanded registration of FIR into the incident.

“It is a fit case for FIR under section 109. No investigation has been done in to the incident,” Mir said in the Lower House today in a furious tone.

“If the IAS officer has not attempted suicide, why was the officer transferred from the posting,” he said.

Mir lashed out at the police for not taking suo motto cognizance into the incident.

“When a common man or any legislator attempts any wrong, police immediately registers FIR,” he said, “but no action has been taken in this incident.”

Ruling BJP legislators from Jammu West constituency, Satpal Sharma too supported Mir and demanded strict action against the officer.

“Strict action must be taken against the officer,” Sharma demanded.

While hesitantly replying in the House, Minister for Rural Development, Abdul Haq Khan said: “We will examine the case.” (KNS)
