Ruling PDP MLA for reinstatement of terminated wireless operators

“Their termination threat to police security, secrecy”

Jammu, Jan 28 : Terming the termination of 231 wireless operators as a threat to security of police, ruling PDP legislator from Wachi Aijaz Mir today demanded that these employees should be reinstated.

“Termination of wireless operators is a social issue as well as threat to the security and secrecy of police in the state. These operators have been serving in the Home department since 2010 when they were appointed. They have served at many sensitive posting, accompanying VIPs and other police officers. They have information about many things of the department,” Mir said.

According to KNS Correspondent covering the assembly proceedings, Mir was speaking in Upper House of the Legislative Assembly during award of Grants for Home, GAD, Tourism and other departments that are held by chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.

“The issue of termination is a social issue as many families are dependent on these operators. The termination is injustice” Mir said.

231 candidates were appointed as selected Constables (Operators) in JKP in 2007 which was challenged before the High Court that quashed the selection list this month.

These terminated candidates have undergone heavy arms training at Police Training School Kathua, the leading training centre in Jammu and Kashmir. Besides having heavy arms training, they have also done 9 months technical course at Police Technical Training Institute in Vijaypur Jammu.

The aggrieved employees also protested against the decision on Monday in Srinagar. (KNS)
