PHE officials demanding money to restore Drinking water supply in Wanganpora

Srinagar, Jan 04 (KNB): Amid tall claims of state government on developmental fronts, the residents of Wanganpora, Eidgah have been ironically deprived of drinking water after they failed to raise the money to repair the damaged pipe line supplying water to at least 10 to 12 households.




A delegation of Mohalla Chandihar, Wanganpora Eidgah Thursday visited the KNB office and alleged that the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department was ignoring their needs of drinking water.

They said since a water pipe line supplying water to their Mohalla was leaked they have been deprived of the water supply and have to walk about one kilometre to collect water from other places.

Farooq Ahmad one of the delegates told KNB that the pipe supplying water to their Mohalla Chandihar has got damaged due to the recent construction in the area, he said when we contact the concerned they asked for money to replace the pipe which we can’t afford.

“Since last one two weeks we have been deprived from the basic amenity, and all our pleas fall to deaf ears, we request MLA, Mr. Mubaraq Gul Sahib to look into the matter and do the needful.” Farooq added

“The drinking water is wasted into drains besides it also damaging roads in the locality, we apprised the concerned PHE officials about the problem but they failed to act instead demanding money,” said other member of the delegation.

Meanwhile, the KNB correspondent forwarded the grievance to concerned MLA while as Chief Engineer PHE was not contacted despite repeated attempts. (KNB)
