Srinagar, Jul 28 (KNB): Former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said that she “drank this cup of poison” out of compulsion.

“I swear on Allah. My politics would start and end with my father. My father’s death was the reason why I was not ready to form the government,” said Mehbooba while addressing the party workers at a function in Srinagar.

Mehbooba said I was not ready to make a government with BJP this was the reason it took me three months. “I had not thought that I would be become Chief Minister. I was thinking of my father’s agenda how to give respite to JK people and take them out (of this morass).

Mehbooba said that she formed the government because of the workers, senior leaders and legislators who insist me to do so. “All these persons at that time told me that it was Mufti Sahab’s decision and you have to drink this cup of poison,” and not allying with BJP would disrespect his decision, she added.

“They are a witness here. If you want to form the government, choose someone as your leader. I don’t deserve it because my heart was broken. My condition was very bad,” said Mehbooba. (KNB)
