PDP All Set To Break Ties With BJP

‘Ram Madhav Phones Mehbooba, But She Refuses To Talk’

Srinagar: With shadows of political uncertainty hovering over the conflict ravaged state of Jammu and Kashmir, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is all set to divorce its alliance with right wing Hindutva BJP. The alliance was stitched after hectic deliberations by none other than PDP patron Mufti Muhammad Sayed, who died recently at AIIMS in Delhi, leaving the state in a political stand-off that later paved way for the governor’s rule.

As per the reports coming out from Muftis Fairview residence, on late Thursday evening, BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav and former deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh had called Mehbooba Mufti on phone, but she refused to talk making it ample clear that PDP is not willing to continue its alliance with BJP.

The development has come just a day after former education minister and senior PDP leader Naieem Akhtar had stated that PDP spokesperson Mehboob’s Beg’s statement that “alliance with BJP will continue” was his personal opinion.

Senior PDP leaders Muzzafar Baig and Tariq Hamid Qarra have already openly opposed alliance with BJP and vowed for a fresh start with secular forces.
