“Party holds massive demonstration against State Govt”

Omar Govt looting J&K State Like a gang of looters: PDP
JAMMU: Terming Omar Abdullah led government as gang of looters, which has brazenly been looting the state since January 2009; the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) recently exhorted the party workers to launch a decisive war against this worst ever corrupt and anti-people regime- the state has witnessed so far.
Addressing a mammoth gathering of party workers, which was later turned into a protest rally against failure of the Omar Abdullah led regime, PDP leaders asserted that today’s protest rally was declaration of war against this government which has failed to solve basic problems of the common masses due to its indifferent and casual approach towards woes of the people.
Rampant corruption, bungling in funds, non-availability of essential commodities like drinking water, electricity and ration are the noticeable achievements of this regime, PDP leaders and added that the state has been gripped with unprecedented crises due to non-availability of ration in the government runs depots, scarcity of drinking water in most parts of Jammu region coupled with the unscheduled power curtailments.
Exhorting the workers to mobilize public opinion against this anti-people regime, PDP leaders said that during the last nearly five years, this government stands exposed as it has reneged on all promises made with the people during campaign for the 2008 assembly elections.
They pointed out that achievements of this government were confined only on papers and on ground nothing concrete has been done. “The government seems to be more concerned about issuing press statements and conducting photo sessions to hoodwink the common masses”, they said, adding, “failure of the State Government can be gauged from the fact that farmers, employees, technocrats, unemployed educated youth, students have been agitating in one way or other but the ruling elites seems to be unconcerned towards growing unrest among different sections of the society”.
PDP leaders attacked coalition government for its failure to keep a check on corruption in the State. They said since formation of this regime corruption has been legalized because government has been encouraging its leaders and workers to indulge into corrupt practices. They said that state government is deep necked involved in corruption from upper to lower level.
Coming down heavily on State Government for adopting casual approach towards strengthening the institutions to curb corruption, they said that except promises nothing has been done.
Later the gathering turned into a protest rally which passed through different parts of the city before culminating near Asia Crossing. Braving scorching heat, hundreds of PDP workers participated in the rally that blocked vehicular movement on Jammu-Pathankote highway for quite some time as mark of protest against state government.
