Palestine struggle a lesson for Kashmiris: Geelani

Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Shah Geelani while expressing pleasure and happiness over the United Nations vote that upgraded Palestine to a non-member observer status appealed the world body to fulfill its responsibilities towards the right to self determination of Kashmiris.

“I appeal the world body to use their influence in seeking the cooperation of India in implementing the UN resolutions on Kashmir,” Geelani said in a statement issued here.

Geelani said the lingering of Kashmir and Palestine issues are the fundamental causes to world’s instability and there can be no sign of a peaceful world until these two issues are resolved.
“Until these two issues are resolved the achievement of peaceful world would be a mere dream,” he said.
Geelani while congratulating Palestinians on their victory said the struggle of Palestinians is a lesson for Kashmiris and worthy to imitate.
“After a long struggle the Palestinians have achieved such status by never looking back. Their innocent children and houses were bombarded by Israel still they resisted it and never surrendered before Israel,” Geelani said.
The chairman said the Palestinians deserved what they achieved today by sacrificing a lot during the past several decades. “Kashmiris too are struggling from the past 65 years and sacrificed a lot but how to secure these sacrifices should be learnt from Palestine,” the leader said adding “we should part our ways from those who are strengthening the hands of India”.
Geelani termed the pro-Indian politicians the main force behind India’s strengthening of its occupation in Kashmir.
