Pakistan fully backs Kashmiris’ struggle, PM tells APHC

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that Pakistan sought to resolve the Kashmir issue on the basis of United Nations’ resolutions and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

He was talking to a seven-member delegation of All Parties Hurriyat Conference led by its Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq that called on him on Monday.

Welcoming the delegation‚ the prime minister said there was consensus among all political parties in Pakistan on the Kashmir issue.

He said Pakistan took pride in the indigenous struggle waged by the people of Kashmir for their right to self determination.

“We praise the political acumen and wisdom of the Hurriyat leadership in its efforts to highlight the case of the people of Kashmir,” he said.

The prime minister praised the vision, wisdom and the patience that the Kashmiri leaders had demonstrated in highlighting the cause of the Kashmiri people and assured them that “Pakistan fully stands behind them”.

Mirwaiz thanked the PM for welcoming the delegation at the Prime Minister’s House and said the people of Kashmir valued the unconditional support of the government and the people of Pakistan.

The APHC delegation also held separate meetings with other political leaders including Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Asfandyar Wali and the Kashmiri leadership from Azad Kashmir.
