Earlier today militant was killed during a encounter with security forces in Kakapora area of Pulwama, police said.
An official identified the slain militant as Irshad Ahmad, a resident of Padgampora in this south Kashmir district.
Earlier, reports had said that militants managed to escape from the cordon.
However, an official maintained that the militant was killed during the firefight that lasted for a brief period.
