CM’s lack of empathy and seriousness appalling – Spokesperson
Srinagar | Friday, September 09, 2016: National Conference on Friday expressed shock and disappointment over Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s lack of empathy and seriousness in a time of unprecedented turmoil and misery in Kashmir. Lashing out at the CM for going for scooty joyrides in Jammu while Kashmir is under virtual siege for the 62nd day today, NC State Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu said Mehbooba’s scooty ride in Jammu was akin to Nero playing his fiddle while Rome burned.
“Mehbooba Mufti has become the epitome of shamelessness and insensitivity. Her smiling pictures while riding scooties in Jammu belie her theatrical performances while visiting mourning families of slain youth in Kashmir. While she has failed – totally and completely – in protecting the lives of the citizens of J&K, she is going around merrily distributing LED lamps and riding scooters in front of flashing cameras in Jammu”, the NC Spokesperson said in a statement issued from NC Headquarters in Srinagar.
The NC Spokesperson said Mehbooba seemed to be an exception to the human trait of shame and was in fact going out of her way to rub salt into the wounds of hundreds of grieving families in Kashmir. “While she has herself established her incompetence and ineptness with every passing day in the Chief Minister’s chair, she has also left no stone unturned to humiliate the people by mocking at their pain and anguish. Between her absurd, bizarre ‘5% versus 95%’ theory and her blaming Pakistan for the uprising in Kashmir, she has carved out a place for herself in the history of the State as the most unfit and shameless individual to accidentally become our Chief Minister”, the NC Spokesperson added.
Lashing out at Mehbooba Mufti’s repeated incoherent attempts to admonish and ridicule the people of Kashmir into surrendering and ending the agitation, the NC Spokesperson said Mehbooba Mufti had become a bigger BJP ambassador than even the staunchest, sworn RSS pracharaks. “Her policy of being more loyal to the BJP than BJP leaders themselves is a desperate, despicable attempt to hang on to her chair at all costs. History will never forgive Mehbooba for humiliating her own people and siding with repression and injustice”, the NC Spokesperson further stated.
The NC Spokesperson asked senior PDP leaders to stop issuing contradicting statements as per their own convenience and either disown the PDP-BJP unholy alliance once for all or stop fooling people with their theatrics. “Senior PDP leaders who co-founded the party ask Mehbooba to resign in the morning only to retract their statements in the evening. Is this a joke for them? 62 days of siege, more than 70 young boys killed and more than 10,000 have been injured and Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Tariq Karra want to have the cake and eat it too? They either clearly and unequivocally accept that PDP’s sell-out to BJP was a criminal ploy to weaken the State internally or they should stop issuing these cosmetic statements – for which there are no takers anymore”, the NC Spokesperson added.
“Mehbooba Mufti should realize that her failure is so enormous and complete that PDP’s erstwhile self-proclaimed ‘bastion’ has now been virtually handed over to the Army for ‘area domination’ by the State Government. Her own constituency of Anantnag has become a prominent epicenter of widespread contempt against her. While she and her arrogant, shameless cabinet colleagues might be deluded into a state of denial, their political rout from the State’s landscape is a foregone conclusion. They have lost more than 95% of their integrity, sense of honour and dignity while they claim only 5% of the people are involved in the agitation in Kashmir”, the NC Spokesperson said in the statement.
