Martyr’s Day to be observed as ‘Youm-e-Tajdeed’: Mirwaiz

Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday said that after consultation among the pro-freedom leadership, it has been decided that the martyr’s day on July 13 would be observed jointly as ‘Youm-e-Tajdeed’ (the day of resolve).

Paying rich tributes to the martyrs of July 13, Mirwaiz said he along with senior pro-freedom leaders including Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Mohammad Yaseen Malik would offer noon (Zuhar) prayers at Jamia Masjid on July 13, adding, thereafter they would lead a big procession towards Mazar-e-Shuhada Nagashbandh Sahib (RA).

He said at Naqashbandh Sahib, the leaders along with people would offer joint Fath-e-Khwani for the July 13 martyrs following which the pro-freedom leadership would address to the gathering there. He said the leaders along with the people would pay rich tributes to the July 13 martyrs and all martyrs of Kashmir and would reiterate their firm resolves to take the freedom struggle forward to its logical conclusion.

The Hurriyat (M) chairman stated that the pro-freedom leadership decided that in the wake of holy month of Ramadan, no strike call would be announced on the eve of July 13 martyrs day. He appealed people to make the July 13, ‘Youm-e-Tajdeed’ day a success by turning towards Jamia Masjid before noon prayers in large numbers following which the leaders and people would march towards Nasqashbandh Sahib to pay tributes to the martyrs of Kashmir. Mirwaiz said July13, 1931 marks the long yearning of the people of Kashmir for freedom for which they have offered immense sacrifice. He said that such sacrifices are the precious asset of Kashmiris and the struggle for freedom would continue till it reaches its logical conclusion.

He said the Kashmiris have offered innumerable sacrifices since 1931, especially from 1989 for the movement. Mirwaiz said lakhs of martyrs and leaders like Mahajr-e-Millat Mirwaiz Mohammad Yousuf Shah had to live in exile while as Shaeed-e-Millat and other leaders sacrificed their lives for the cause, adding, as such it is our responsibility to play our role in making this struggle success at all fronts.
