KYJA holds protest against Karman’s arrestAppeals CM to take issue with HM

Kashmir Young Journalists Association (KYJA) Sunday staged a sit-in at press enclave in Srinagar against the arrest of photojournalist Kamran Yusuf by National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Journalists held protests in Press Enclave questioned the arrest asking NIA to make the charges public so that they would also come to know about the reasons for arresting the photojournalist.

“Our simple demand is that the NIA should come with charges leveled against Kamran,” said the journalist. “The state government led by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti should also take up the issue with Home Minister Rajnath Singh who is currently in the valley.”

Kamran Yousuf was arrested by the NIA on September 5, 2017 and flown to Delhi where a court sent him to ten days NIA custody. But the charges against him have not been made public.

Kamran is a resident of Tahab Pulwama and would contribute photos/videos to Greater Kashmir.

The journalists would again hold protest against Kamran’s arrest on Monday.
