Kashmir observes compelete shutdown on death anniversary of Mirwaiz, Lone

Srinagar, May 21(KNB): The Kashmir Valley on Tuesday observed a complete shutdown called by  Joint Resistance Leadership(JRL) comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, to mark the death anniversaries of Mirwaiz Farooq and Gani Lone.

Shops, offices, business establishments and schools in Srinagar were closed while a very thin movement of Public and private vehicles was witnesseds across the Valley.

Authorities have also put restrictions in parts of Downtown to prevent the march called by the separatists.

Heavy deployment of the security forces has also been made at all the sensitive points to prevent any law and order problem.

Mirwaiz Moulana Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, the father of Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was killed at his residence in the outskirts of the city on May 21, 1990. While, Abdul Gani Lone, father of Sajad Lone and Bilal Lone, was killed at the Martyrs Graveyard on May 21, 2002.(KNB)
