IPD marks global disability day at Kupwara

Kupwara dec 03: Army in association with Initiative for peace and development (NGO) celebrated International day for persons with disabilities at Udaan school and rehabilitation centre Drugmulla Kupwara.

On this occasion, apart from senior army officials MLA kupwara Bashir Ahmad Dar, District social welfare officer Kupwara Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad and scores of differently abled children their parents and prominent citizens participated.

Joining hand in the initiative of Indian army Initiative for peace and development(NGO) has taken the responsibility to run the school cum rehabilitation for long term intervention.

As per sources Kupwara district tops in persons with disabilities with about 39000 persons, where as only 15000 have been covered under different government schemes as disclosed by district social welfare officer during interaction.

President IPD Malik Sajid said “We should come forward to help these disabled children and should take care of them”.
