gunfight is underway between militants and government forces in Handwara area of frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir.
An official said that Special Operations Group (SOG) Handwara and Army’s 6 RR cordoned off Hingnikoot Ramhal area of Handwara after “specific input” about the presence of militants.
He said militants hiding in the area opened fire on a search party, triggering a gunfight.
Two to three militants are believed to be trapped inside the cordon.
