Girls thrashed by hostel warden, suspended.

SWC takes cognizance of thrashing of girls by warden, Investigation initiated.

Srinagar: In a fit of rage, the students allege that the Warden of Gujjar and Bakerwal Girls Hostel, Tulsi Bagh had beaten few girl residents and left them injured. The incident according to them took place when a verbal argument over certain issues heated up and lead to the squabble.




Immediately after the incident a delegation of students approached the State Commission for Women and sought its intervention in the matter, in which the students alleged the highhandedness of the Warden. In order to preliminary confirm the veracity of the incident the Commission tried Warden’s cell but the phone was switched off. Also according to the Principal Govt. girls School, Rajbagh,an F.I.R. has been lodged in the Police Station, Shergarhi.

Commission, then, led by its Chairperson, Nayeema Ahmad Mehjoor took immediate cognizance of the issue and visited the premises. The Chairperson expressed profound distress and took up the matter with Director School Education, Kashmir. Apropos to the directions warden has been put under suspension till further investigation.




According to the students the warden lost her temper after the innocous act of these girls refusing to clean the lawn area and wardens room, which infuriated the warden leading to the thrashing of the students. Further, according to the girls warden has a history of behaving like a tyrant and making the life of residents miserable.
