Dr. Sameer Kaul joins National Conference

End repression against Kashmiris: Dr Farooq

Srinagar, Apr 01: National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Saturday sought end to reign of repression and coercion unleashed against entire Kashmir population, saying that the PDP-BJP dispensation cannot get away with atrocities committed upon the people.

“Enough is enough”, Dr Abdullah said while addressing workers of Sonawar assembly segment of Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency.

He said harassment and intimidation or rehabilition of jails with thousands of innocents cannot bring peace in Kashmir. “Peace shall remain a distant dream unless the root cause by assuaging political aspirations of Kashmir are not met.

Dr Farooq Abdullah dwelt in detail about accession and 1952 agreement and referred to the recent statement of former Sadr-e-Riyasat Dr Karan Singh in Parliament on the Instrument of Accession and said the younger generation has at least come to know the terms of accession and circumstances that led to its inking by Maharaja Hari Singh.

NC President made a strong plea for resolving political problem of Kashmir, saying the grim situation in the Valley calls for early redressal. “People’s trust and confidence cannot be won by pellet guns or putting youth behind bars”, he said, wondering that instead of showing semblances of civility and compassion, the government is indulging in provocations.

He expressed deep anguish over the killing of three innocent youth in Chadoora and wondered that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti did not utter a word about this gruesome incident. He said that she used to visit slain militants houses in green robes when in the opposition but now the PDP has become accomplice in killing of young people in Kashmir.

Dr Farooq Abdullah also reminded the people about his apprehension during 2014 on PDP joining hands with the BJP and said that he was vindicated when the fixed match was called off and Mufti Mohammed Sayeed became Chief Minister by aligning with Sangh Parivar. He expressed concern over the emergence of communal forces across the country and said that the minorities had a reason to feel apprehensive about their safety and security.

The NC chief blamed the Sangh Parivar for interfering in the religious affairs of Muslims and said that this is a bad omen for secularism.

Former MLC Ghulam Qadir Pardesi and District President Peer Afaq Ahmed also addressed the workers.

Meanwhile, Senior National Conference leaders Choudhry Mohammed Ramzan and Irfan Ahmed Shah made a fervent appeal to the voters to cast their vote in favour of Dr Farooq Abdullah saying that it will be support to the forces which are working tirelessly to steer Kashmir out of morass.
Meanwhile, country’s top oncologist Dr. Sameer Kaul who was a close associate of the PDP founder Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and was PDP’s Chief National Spokesperson till he resigned from the party on the party’s unholy alliance with the BJP, joined National Conference in Srinagar on Saturday. Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah welcomed Dr. Sameer Kaul into the party in the presence of NC Provincial Presidents Nasir Aslam Wani, Devender Singh Rana and State Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu.

While welcoming Dr. Kaul to National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said the joining of Dr. Sameer Kaul will further strengthen the party’s resolve to work for the dignified return of the Kashmir Pandits as also strengthen the age-old inter-community bonds of amity and brotherhood between the Kashmir Pandit and Muslim communities. Dr. Farooq Abdullah expressed hope that Dr. Kaul would work tirelessly to uphold the secular ideals of the party and work towards isolating communal and divisive forces who are working overtime to create fissures in the secular fabric of the State.

Dr. Kaul assured Dr. Farooq Abdullah that under the leadership of Omar Abdullah he will continue to strive to serve the people of the State in upholding their political rights, dignity and honour keeping in mind the true aspirations of the people of the State and the principles of Kashmiriyat.
Senior Party leaders have welcomed Dr. Sameer Kaul into the party and wished him the best for his endeavours to serve the party and the people of the State. (KNS)
