Don’t test the patience of police: Mehbooba to people

Terms killing of a DySP as ‘murder of trust’

Srinagar, Jun 23 : Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti Friday appealed the people of Kashmir to don’t test the patience of Jammu and Kashmir police, who are always exercising utmost restraint.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the wrath laying ceremony of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), Muhammad Ayoub who was lynched to death by the youth outside Jamia Masjid during the Shab-e-Qadr, Mehbooba said, “The Jammu and Kashmir Police is one of the best forces in the country and they are exercising utmost restraint because they believe that they are dealing with their own people. People shouldn’t test their patience.”

“God forbid, if this is the result of their restraint it’s going to be very difficult. For how long can this go on? Earlier six policemen including an SHO were killed in Achabal and now the lynching of Dy SP Sahab took place. I want to ask people, if this goes on, things may well go back to how they were, when people would run just upon seeing a (police) jeep on the road,” she said, according to KNS correspondent.

She also termed the lynching of the senior cop as the ‘murder of the trust’. “Dy SP Sahab had allowed his guards to go home on Shab-e-Qadr as it was his own area but the incident that occurred is actually a murder of trust and a shameful act as well,” she added.

Mehbooba while paying tributes to the senior cop said that he wasn’t out for his own work but the safety and security of the people. “I appeal the people to stop such things as the incident that occurred is highly shameful,” she added.
