Delhi Court extends judicial custody of Hurriyat leaders till Oct 17

Srinagar, September 27: The judicial custody of seven Hurriyat leaders and businessman arrested by NIA earlier has been extended till October 17, while the judicial custody of DFP chairman Shabir Shah has been extended till October 13 by courts in Delhi.




Relatives of Hurriyat leaders told that District and Sessions Judge Poonam Bhambale of Patiala House Court in New Delhi today extended the judicial custody of seven Hurriyat leaders and a businessman who were arrested by NIA in August and taken to New Delhi where they have been lodged in Tihar Jail.

Businessman, Zahoor Watali, attended the hearing through video conferencing as his health is not well.

Meanwhile, Delhi court today extended the judicial custody of DFP Shabir Shah till October 13 in a 2005 money laundering case.

The seven leaders include Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar Khandey, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Peer Saifullah, Aftab Hilali Shah alias Shahid-ul-Islam, Nayeem Khan and Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karate were arrested by NIA in connection with the case filed vide No. RC-10/2017/NIA/DLI (J&K Terror Funding Case) under sections 120B, 121, 121 A of IPC and sections 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 38, 39, 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
