Cricketers and JKCPL slams ‘tainted’ JKCA

In an apparent move to display hegemony and give loud and clear message to talented cricketers of the Valley that Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) does what it wishes, the Association Saturday threatened that if the players associated with JKCA will participate in tournaments like Corporate Cricket Premier League, the players will lose the benefits which they reap under JKCA.
Scores of talented Cricketers including JKCPL organizers accused JKCA of foul play and told CNS that JKCA does not want any ‘Body’ to take over them. “What is wrong if Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Cricket Premier League (JKCPL) has taken an initiative to groom the talent of the young cricketers? The hegemony of JKCA was over when its officials were found involved in embezzlement of funds,” one of the young cricketers affiliated with JKCA who is now part of the JKCPL told CNS on condition of anonymity.
“Actually tainted former General Secretary of JKCA Ehsan Mirza had approached JKCPL organizers which bluntly refused to make him a part of the game. Ehsan Miraz tried to introduce his own team ‘Mirza Sons’ but the organizers did not comply as Mirza is under scanner and his name was figured in JKCA scam,” senior cricketer Sajjad Ahmed told a local news agency adding that JKCA a few days back called a meeting where in few tainted officials participated. “They are behind this conspiracy to put an end to JKCPL.
Organizing Secretary JKCPL, Abdul Qayoom Bagow said that there are at least 15 Ranji Trophy players who are participating in JKCPL. “These players get nothing from JKCA. Whatever they get is being given to them by BCCI. The letter which they are showing the players participating in JKCPL was actually dispatched by BBCI in 2007 when BCCI banned the players who took part in ICL,” he said adding that JKCA should keep its house in order first and then issue statements. He further said that why JKCA has come up with a statement when JKCPL started its venture. “Why it remained silent when Army started KPL. In Shaheed-i-Milat tournament scores of players participating are affiliated with JKCA,” Bagaow said adding that JKCA is hatching a conspiracy against JKCPL and its tainted officials will not succeed in their designs.
Another rising cricket star of Valley said that such a move has discouraged the talent lot of Kashmir. “JKCPL is a platform where young and budding cricketers could display their talent and if JKCA will not allow its players to participate in this tourney then it will be unfortunate,” he said adding that JKCA neither does anything for cricket here nor it allows private parties to take any initiative in this regard.
Pertinently, joint secretary, JKCA, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat Saturday said that If players will play for other tournaments including JKCPL then they will lose the benefits.
