Congress believes in action, not words; BJP can’t win confidence of people with money; Nizami

Srinagar, Dec 7: Slamming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for using black money for election campaigning in Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress Spokesman Salman Nizami said it does not have as many resources as the BJP. As a party which had talked about bringing black money to India, the BJP has shown the trailer in the election campaigning, the money spent by BJP to lure voters will not help them to win the confidence of the people.

He said that the people of the Jammu and Kashmir state were wise enough to draw a comparison between those who promise and those who deliver without making much noise. “People of Jammu and Kashmir deserve a dignified life. We’ll ensure that they get it, once we come to power,” he said. Nizami said “They have given advertisements to all the channels, all the major newspapers. Look at the airtime they have consumed. Unless the media organisations have given them the space out of charity, where has all the money come from? They haven’t answered about the source of the money,” he said. The Congress spokesman, said that people of Jammu and Kashmir have been exploited by a section of politicians for their personal interests. He said the people were made to fight each other in the name of region and religion by the vested interests to raise huge palaces over the bodies of the innocent people. “Urban-rural divide was created. People of the three regions were pitted against each other. Opportunist politician can never be well wishers of the people. Congress is the only party that believes in action rather than words. We will provide succor to the people. We’ll open new gates of peace, progress and prosperity,” Nizami said.

He said that the people of Kashmir have suffered immensely during the last 24 years of violence that not only led to the loss of precious lives but also hit the business. He said that the time has come when the people can give a befitting reply to those politicians, who exploited them.

“Congress doesn’t believe in dynasty rule. It’s a party with grass root level workers. Our party wants to turn Kashmir into an international tourist destination. We want to develop the state so that the people reap its benefits,” he said. He added that this will not be possible without the support of the people. Terming BJP and NC as the two sides of the same coin, Nizami said that both the parties have same agenda to mislead the masses with the false promises. He said that the two parties rake the issue of Article 370 or AFSPA, whenever the elections are taking place.

“Why don’t BJP and NC raise these issues prior to elections? Why do they make promises knowing they can’t fulfill them? Is their conscience dead? Nizami asked. Expressing displeasure over the performance of the state and the Central government during the recent floods, the Congress spokesman said that the people feel let down when they were in need of help.

“Even now, the media reports that people have not been rehabilitated. Many people are still making rounds outside the offices for compensation. The people feel humiliated,” he said.
