Bandipora SSP denies allegations, says unfortunately CMO get Agitated

Srinagar, May 26(KNB): SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik on Tuesday justifyingly denied the allegation of harassing Chief Medical Officer precepting to have followed the orders of Deputy Commissioner in view of nationwide lockdown due to pandemic Covid-19.

A video gone viral on social media showing CMO Bandipora stopped by Police near the new district hospital complex at Nusoo while he was on his way to his official visit to quarantine and sample collection centres afterwards CMO alighted from the vehicle and rebuked the cops.

In the video Dr Tajamul can be seen arguing with the cops by saying that health officers are risking their own lives on the frontline for the sake of people which is restrained by the security officials as they are being harassed constantly.

Dr Tajamul rageously said, “You people are well aware that we do whatever we could at the risk of our own lives and you are stopping us from performing our duties even yesterday too, you manhandled a doctor in Srinagar city.”

Meanwhile, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) in a statement profoundly stated that in the past 48 hours, three doctors who were on duty, were harassed and manhandled by police and announced a black band protest across Jammu and Kashmir against multiple such incidents of doctors amid COVID-19 outbreak.

Moreover, Doctors at Government Super Speciality Hospital Srinagar held a token protest in solidarity with Dr. Maqbool Cardiologist & Dr. Shabir DNB Urology who were allegedly manhandled & harassed by police while on duty.

While talking to Kashmir News Bureau on phone, SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik said, ” All the allegations are completely baseless as our officials never have ever harassed any frontline workers amid Covid-19 pandemic. We always follow the orders of the Deputy Commissioner while on duty.”

When asked about the CMO’s harassment incident he said, “It was a routine check, but unfortunately, CMO got agitated. He was however pacified and matter was resolved smoothly.”(KNB)
