Army faces torture, disappearance, bonded labour charges at Devar Lolab

The 27 RR stationed at Tarmukh Devar belt , Lolab Valley is in news for all wrong reasons as whole belt is currently facing protests against the said army unit.




Two persons namely Nasarullah Khan and Manzoor Ahmad Khan from their native village of Kakarpati, Devar inhabitated by Pathans had got to oversee their lands and as it requires permission from the Taramukh 27 RR camp they had taken same ,but it is said they were dragged by jawans of this unit  there and tortured severely inside the camp.

Nasurallah Khan having visible torture marks all over his body  in his statement has said – “We were tortured badly and beaten to pulp”.

“They falsely accused us of sheltering the Militants and providing them food and shelter to them which is false”. I fear my relative Manzoor Ahmad has been beaten to death. “These RR men showed no mercy and all were ruthless including their officials”.

As per latest reports, whole village is stationed outside army camp and demanding whereabouts of Manzoor Khan who also happens to be close relative of Minister Rural Development.

Another set of disturbing allegations the locals of area level is that said army unit resorts to bonded labour and yesterday Ghulam Qadir was summoned for same and when in his place his son Manzoor went they resorted to abuses and tortured, disappeared him.

For the moment 27 RR Tarmukh, Devar is facing scores of heinous charges . But, higher officials when contacted in Army stated that they are looking into the matter seriously.

On the otherhand, SSP Kupwara Shamseer Hussain, while talking to the Kashmir Scenario stated -“We are looking into matter seriously. Missing Manzoor entry is their in army register but later than Nasurallah ,there are marks of torture on Nasrullah too. We are investigating the matter from all angles and FIR already stands registered against Army.”
