Appointing IB man as interlocutor means befooling Kashmiris

India’s IB plays vital role for ruining Kashmir: Kamal

Srinagar, Oct 27 : Stating that the dialogue initiative taken by the Government of India (GoI) is tantamount to rubbing the salt on the wounds of Kashmiris, Senior National Conference (NC) leader and its additional general secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal Friday said the interlocutor appointed, Dineshwar Sharma, has served the department which played a vital role in deteriorating the Kashmir situation.

Kamal while talking to KNS over phone said that though every step regarding the resolution of Kashmir issue is welcomed but at the same time appointing former Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief as an interlocutor is tantamount to rubbing salts on the wounds of people as he is politically immature. “The interlocutor (Dineshwar Sharma) has served the department, which played vital role in deteriorating the Kashmir’s situation,” he said.

He said that by appointing former IB chief as interlocutor, the GoI is befooling the people of Kashmir. “I believe the GoI by appointing Sharma as interlocutor is like ‘Kaar-e-Najar Ba Dast-e-Gilkar’ (the work of carpenter will be done by a mason). What a person can do who is politically immature,” he questioned.

Kamal said that the step taken by the BJP led government in the centre will go adverse to them. “It seems that the GoI has not taken the Kashmir’s situation seriously. They are dealing with with the Kashmir situation as if nothing is worn in Kashmir. Instead of appointing politically immature person as interlocutor, I think it could have been better in case the GoI should have not taken such step,” he said.

Pertinently, on Monday, Narendra Modi led union government appointed an interlocutor to hold talks with stake-holders of Jammu and Kashmir.

The announcement was made by Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti already welcomed the initiative for leading a sustained dialogue. (KNS)
