Amid Sky rocket prices and unavailability of poultry items,SHO Bijhama arranged 1800 layer Chickens for Locals

Uri 23 May (KNB):In a unique and people friendly gesture SHO Bijhama managed to bring 1800 Layer chickens in Jurisdiction of Police Station Bijhama in Nort Kashmir’s Uri for sale at the rate of only Rs 100/per chicken on demand of people of area.The step to bring layer chicken for sale in the area was taken by SHO after there was unavailability of Poultry items  in the area.


The lack of Chicken supply and exorbitant rates ahead of Eid during lockdown and the demand for poultry had caused chicken prices to soar In Bijhama Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla District.

Amid unavailability of poultry items the People of the area had approached SHO Police Station Bijhama Mr Nasir Ahmad regarding the unavailability of poultry and exorbitant rates and as soon as the SHO heard about the hardship which the people were facing ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, he warned all the shopkeepers of the area that nobody will be allowed to sell chicken on exorbitant rates and whosoever will be caught selling chicken on exorbitant rates will be dealt strictly. 

It is pertinent to mention that there was unavailability of chickens and other poultry items in the area ahead of Eid because some shopkeepers and Retailers were taking advantage of the lockdown by escalating prices of the poultry Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr in Bijhama Rafiabad.

Poultry shops in most parts of Bijhama Uri were  Closed because of the restrictions imposed by the Station House officer Bijhama curbing the price hike. Vendors were claiming that it is impossible for them to sell poultry at controlled rates prescribed by authorities as they receive the stock at high prices but SHO Mr Nasir Ahmad of Police Station Bijhama  had warned them that nobody will be allowed to sell chicken on exorbitant rates under any circumstances.

Station House Officer Police Station Bijhama while talking to Kashmir News Bureau told that people of the area were facing hardships due to non availability of chickens ahead of Eid because many Shop Keepers and Retailers were taking advantage of the situation by escalating prices of the poultry items and we had warned them that no body will be allowed to sell chicken or poultry items on high prices.


“After we heard that there is unavailability of Broiler Chickens in the area due to which people were suffering ahead of Eid, we managed and arranged 1800 layer chickens and the same were selled to people at the rate of 100 rupees for per layer chicken while maintaining social distancing to mitigate their sufferings and help them overcome problems ahead of Eid added SHO Police Station Bijhama Mr Nasir Ahmad while talking to Kashmir News Bureau.


Locals of the area while talking to Kashmir News Bureau told that today Station House Officer of Police Station Bijhama Mr Nasir Ahmad has set an example for others and we thank him from the core of our heart for this people friendly gesture.(KNB)
