Amid Political uncertainty, PDP celebrates 19th Foundation Day

Srinagar, Jul 28 (KNB): Amid Political uncertainty in Jammu and Kashmir, the erstwhile ruling party People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday celebrated its 19th foundation day at Sher-e-Kashmir Park in Srinagar. The event was attended by party leaders and more than 12000 workers from across the Kashmir region. The function was presided over by Party President, Mehbooba Mufti.


The party President, Mehbooba Mufti thanked the workers who gathered at the park to mark the foundation day of the party. She also acknowledged the efforts every PDP worker has put in to make this day a huge success.

While addressing the gathering, she said, “Pakistan is getting a new government, a new prime minister. He has made an offer of friendship. I want to appeal PM Narendra Modi to respond to the offer positively.”

The PDP had pressed for dialogue to resolve the Kashmir issue and the party adopted the same tune in New Delhi, Jammu and Srinagar, she said.




Mehbooba also recalled the tenure of her government and said development had got impetus, issues of KAS/KPS, schemes related to women folk and other major developmental works had also created a regional balance in the state.

She asked PDP workers to stay united and work for peace and progress of the state.

Speaking on the occasion, senior party leader, Muzaffar Hussain beigh said, “Young, old, men and women all together are affirming their trust in the leadership of our party president.”

He further added that, “Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has given people an alternative in the shape of the PDP, which has initiated a new political discourse in the state.”




Other senior leaders of the party who spoke on the occasion said that the PDP had not deviated from its stand during the last 18 years. Whether PDP formed coalition with the Congress or the BJP, the stand of the party had remained the same and the PDP had never compromised on its resolve and policies under any circumstances. (KNB)
