4th day; snowfall continues in Valley, highway closed

Weather to improve from Sat evening: MeT

Srinagar, Mar 10 : On the fourth consecutive day, the Valley on Friday continued to receive the rain or snowfall while the weatherman here has predicted more rains over the state in next 24 hours.
However, the Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only road connecting Valley with rest of the country remained closed due to the slippery conditions of road at Ramban.


Meanwhile, the official spokesman of Meteorological (MeT) department informed KNS, “There is possibility of light to moderate rain/snowfall at most of the places across the state in the next 24 hours.”

He said that the weather would mostly remain cloudy till Saturday evening. “The weather conditions would improve from Saturday evening across the state,” he informed KNS.

Meanwhile, the Srinagar-Jammu highway continued to remain closed for the third consecutive day today thereby leaving the commuters to suffer.

The officials in the traffic department said that the highway continued to remain closed due to the continuous rain and snowfall at various places. “The highway was closed by the higher ups following the slippery conditions of roads triggered by the rains. The raod clearance work would start again once the rains would stop,” he said.

He added that the any vehicles stranded on the either sides of the roads will be allowed first to ply towards their destinations. (KNS)
